Vale - Robert Marwe
/Adelaide Croatia Raiders extends its deepest condolences to the Marwe family, on the passing of past player and coach - Robert Marwe.
Rob came to Adelaide Croatia as lanky teenager and actually played his first senior game at only 16 years of age. He never played a Reseves game in his entire career - only Senior football and went on to become one of the most decorated players in the club's history.
He played for Adelaide Croatia for 13 seasons and went on to play approx 350 games. Rob had a two year stint at Adelaide City and played one year at West Adelaide during the old NSL competition. He also represented South Australia in the State team playing against high profile Greek league teams - Olymipiacos and Panathinaikos.
His heart was always with Adelaide Croatia and in 1989 he coached during the pre-season Ampol Cup going on to beat West Adelaide in the Final.
Rob played during the club's glory days winning Championships in 1980, 1984 & 1988. He coached the senior team in 1996, played in many Australia & New Zealand Croatian Soccer Tournaments right across the country including the 1984 Championship win in Mildura. Rob was inducted into the Croatian Soccer Association of Australia Hall of Fame in 2019 for his outstanding contribution to Adelaide Croatia.
Rob always stayed close to the club and was honoured during the 50th, 60th, and 70th Anniversaries. He is deservedly considered a legend of the club and will be remembered with great admiration.
A memorial service will be held at The Pavilion Prospect at North Adelaide Football Club. Wednesday 14 January at 10:30am.
Pocivao u Miru Bozjem. Rest in Peace Rob Marwe.
