President's Mid Season Report
John Kosmina - new coach of the Raiders. Photo: Anthony Johnson - Sydney Morning HeraldWe have come to the halfway mark of the season and its looking to be a cracker of a second half. It has been disappointing to find ourselves in a relegation battle, but in football things can change very quickly. The club has had to part company with John Duthie, but there is much optimism around Raiders with the appointment of John Kosmina as the senior coach. Kosmina’s record speaks for itself – a distinguished playing career in the NSL and with the Socceroos, inaugural Adelaide United coach and Socceroos assistant coach to name a few. We look forward to John’s return from South Africa to lead our squad for the bulk of the second half. Welcome to the Adelaide Croatia Raiders John.
Whilst John is in South Africa, the club has appointed Bugsy Nyskohus as interim coach. Bugsy brings with him over 300 NSL games as a player and super league and senior state coaching experience. I know Bugsy will do a great job in these next few weeks and welcome him to the Adelaide Croatia Raiders also.
The boys now have a huge wealth of experience at their disposal, but they need to work hard and learn to create something for the rest of the year – it wont just happen, it needs to be earned. I have every faith that the boys appreciate the great opportunity they have in front of them and am confident that we will get stronger as the season progresses.
I would like to wish John Duthie all the best for the future. John has been a valued member of not only the Raiders, but also of the Croatian community here at the Croatian Sports Centre. The young talent we now have at the club is largely due to John and it is important that this is recognised. Although this season hasn’t gone to plan, John can hold his head up high, leading the club to a great season last year and earning himself FFSA coach of the year in his inaugural senior coaching role. So from the committee and Croatian Community, Thank You John and we look forward to seeing you and your family back at the Croatian Sports Centre soon.
